Who runs Calibvo, and what it refuses to be
Calibvo is a small software product for people running a literature, systematic or scoping review: the postgraduate writing a review chapter, the doctoral researcher working to a protocol, and the small evidence team doing the same thing for a policy question. It is made and sold by Ellul Solutions Ltd, a company registered in England, and it is funded by one thing only, the subscription. There is no institutional deal, no publisher relationship and no advertising.
Why this site exists
This site exists because the method half of a literature review has nowhere to live. A reference manager holds the citations, a spreadsheet holds an attempt at a matrix, and the reasons for excluding four hundred records live in somebody's memory until a supervisor asks. The worksheets put the arithmetic of that work on the page for nothing, and the product is what happens when you want the decisions kept.
Who it is for
The person who has to be able to show how a review was produced: what was searched, what was excluded, and why
Not a prospective student choosing a degree, not someone buying editing or writing help, and not a journal or conference managing submissions
What it does not do
- It does not write any part of your review, and it does not generate prose you could submit as your own
- It does not format references or check grammar: keep the reference manager you already have, and this sits beside it
- It does not rank journals, publish an impact metric, or advise on where to submit
- It does not sell your enquiry, your searches or your review data to publishers, vendors or anyone else

The arithmetic is free for good. Pro is what happens after it: the searches you ran, the records each returned, the include and exclude decision on every one with its reason, and the extraction the matrix was built from.

I run the company behind this site and I wrote the worksheets on it. I have spent the last decade building records software for people who have to show their working, and what started this hub is that the method half of a literature review has nowhere to live: the reference manager holds the citations and the reasons four hundred records were excluded live in somebody's memory until a supervisor asks.
